Over the last decade, the summer music festival scene in the UK has really taken off, with new festivals constantly being created to cater to each and every niche out there. OROGOLD takes a look at some of the best upcoming summer music festivals in the UK.
V Festival, 22-23rd August
V Festival is one of the most popular summer events in the UK, and always attracts some of the biggest commercial names in music. The event is held simultaneously at two parks; Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in South Staffordshire, with the acts swapping over to play the same set at the other park on the second day. This year, the headlining acts include Kasabian, Calvin Harris and The Script, while other notable acts include Ellie Goulding, Paloma Faith and George Ezra. There are plenty of luxury camping options for those who don’t want to rough it, from luxury yurt suites to fully equipped Rvs. The VIP Experience can be purchased for some great benefits, such as your own private toilets, exclusive food and drink outlets, a private late bar and exclusive use of the estate gardens.
Reading and Leeds, 28-30th August
The Reading and Leeds Festival is the oldest popular music festival in the world, and, like V Festival, is held simultaneously at two parks, one in Reading and one in Leeds. The festival is famous worldwide for its alternative, punk and metal acts, and this year, Mumford & Sons, Metallica and DEADMAU5 are just some of the popular headlining acts. Other notable artists include Limp Bizkit, Jamie T, and Panic! At the Disco, Again, there are a variety of camping options, whether you want to stay for one night or for the whole weekend.
Bestival, 10-13th September
Bestival is the multi award-winning festival that is held each year on the Isle of Wight, and is famous for its huge line-ups. Spread out over four days, the headliners this year include The Chemical Brothers, Duran Duran and Underworld, while Jamie XX, The Jacksons and Jurassic 5 will also be playing. In addition to its eclectic line-up, Bestival offers some great facilities, including the boutique camping experience, a roller disco, the Bollywood Cocktail Bar, and a giant dress-up party. There are standard camping tents available for those who want a more authentic experience, as well as caravan access so that you can bring your own mobile home. Bestival also hosts Feast Collective, a culinary collection of fantastic artisan foods. In addition to the southern American barbecue that will be served up this year, you can also expect to see Middle Eastern and Caribbean cuisine, sustainable sushi, and plenty more!
A summer music festival in the UK is an experience definitely not to be missed. However, tickets can often sell out quite quickly, so OROGOLD highly recommends booking as far in advance as possible. Don’t forget that British weather is also extremely unpredictable, so some rainboots and a rain jacket are essential items of clothing to bring to any UK music festival!
