Atlantis Hotel in Paradise Island

With stiff competition constantly arising in the travel and hospitality industry, hotels are having to step up their game in order to stand out from the crowd. From a Japanese hotel staffed by robots to an orbiting hotel in space, OROGOLD brings you some of the best futuristic hotels.

Henn-na Hotel, Japan
Set to open this July, the Henn-na Hotel, located at the Huis Ten Bosch theme park, just outside of Nagasaki, will feature cutting edge technology in a way that no other hotel has yet done. Sci-fi comes to life as soon as you step through the doors, as the hotel is aiming to be 90% staffed by ‘humanoids’ and other robots. From check-in to check-out, everything is available to the guests via self-service facilities, and guests also have the option of a traditional room key, or simply opening their doors using face recognition software. Prices for a night at Henn-na Hotel are surprisingly affordable, especially when compared to the other hotels at the theme park. Due to this, demand is expected to be high, so rather than simply booking a room, guests will need to bid for available rooms.

Space station / hotel concept.

Orbiting Space Hotel
Set to open in 2016, the first orbiting space hotel is being designed by Orbital Technologies, a Russian company, and will be 217 miles above the surface of Earth. To reach this commercial space station, guests will need to travel for two days Soyuz rocket, where seasoned astronauts will accompany up to seven guests at a time. Since cooking in space is not yet possible, the food will consist of Earth food that has been heated in on-board microwaves before serving. With plenty of windows, cameras and binoculars, guests will be able to view the Earth from a completely unique but expensive perspective, with travel and accommodation costs coming close to a million dollars for a five day stay.

Poseidon Undersea Resort, Fiji
Although it has been 13 years in the making, with no opening date set as of yet, over 150,000 people have so far registered to pay close to $14,000 for a week at the first resort built on the sea floor. 40 feet under the sea, in a lagoon located just near Fiji, the resort will consist of 25 suites, each with their own jacuzzi and floor to ceiling windows, a restaurant, bar, gym, spa and even an underwater wedding chapel. Since the majority of the hotel has been built using transparent acrylic, the views are panoramic, and are bound to take your breath away. On shore, the resort will have even more amenities, making the Poseidon Undersea Resort one that OROGOLD cannot wait to be able to visit!

From the first resort to be built on the ocean floor, to the other extreme of an orbiting space hotel, these are some of the most futuristic hotels that we know of. Although the underwater and space hotel have yet to open, the Henn-na Hotel in Japan is set to open this week, and are already taking bids from guests for accommodation, so be sure to sign up soon if you want to be one of the first to experience a hotel staffed by Japanese ‘humanoids’!
