The vibrant capital of Western Australia, Perth is packed with fun-filled activities for just about everyone. From impressive museums to sprawling botanic parks to beautiful sandy beaches, OROGOLD has rounded up some of the best attractions in Perth.
King’s Park and Botanic Garden
For those of you who want to see some of Australia’s native plants and birds, OROGOLD would highly recommend a visit to the King’s Park and Botanic Garden. The park is spread out across 1000 acres, with two-thirds of it dedicated to natural bush. There is plenty to do here, from taking a stroll along the meandering walking trails to visiting specific areas of interest, such as the acacia garden, to stopping off at the different viewpoints that offer spectacular panoramas of the city.
If you are looking for a fun day out in Perth for the whole family, OROGOLD suggests Adventure World, the only theme park and water park in Perth. There are over 25 different rides and slides to enjoy, as well as dining establishments for when you need a break from the action. Of course, if you visit Adventure World, make sure that you don’t leave without having a go on the Kraken, a newly-opened $7 million mega funnel water slide.
Hillary’s Boat Harbour
Located about 20km north-west of Perth, Hillary’s Boat Harbour is a gorgeous marina filled with shops, restaurants and different attractions. OROGOLD recommends taking a walk through the underwater glass tunnel, where you will be able to see 200 different species of marine life, including dolphins and sharks. There are also many sheltered beaches, walkways and parks, as well as fun family attractions, making it a great destination to spend the day.
Museums at the Perth Cultural Center
There are two museums at the Perth Cultural Center that OROGOLD loves. The first is the Art Gallery of Western Australia, which is home to a collection of both Australian and international art that dates all the way back to 1829. OROGOLD also loves the Western Australian Museum, a natural and social history museum that is truly a delight to explore. From its extensive collection of Aboriginal artefacts to its jail that was built by convict labour, this is a fantastic place to learn more about the history of the region.
Caversham Wildlife Park
The Caversham Wildlife Park is about a thirty-minute drive from the center of Perth, and is a fantastic day out for the whole family. This is where you will find native Australian wildlife, from kangaroos to koala bears to wombats, and there are many demonstrations, talks and feeding and petting opportunities to delight the entire family.
From its man-made attractions to its areas that showcase the best of native Australia, Perth really does have so much to offer. Its attractions are diverse, meaning that no matter what your interests may be, you will be able to find something that will truly fascinate you in Perth.
