Palm Desert in itself is a major shopping destination, and has a variety of great shopping areas. From high end boutiques to outlet malls, and street fairs to farmers markets, Palm Desert is definitely the place to go for an enjoyable and unforgettable shopping experience.
One of the most well-known shopping areas in Palm Desert is El Paseo Drive, where you will find over 300 different shops, selling everything from high fashion to home décor to fine art. Many designer boutiques are at El Paseo, from Louis Vuitton to Burberry, and the El Paseo Collection is where you will find more than 20 different art galleries showcasing a whole range of styles, many of which you are able to buy and take home with you. El Paseo Drive is known as the Rodeo Drive of Palm Desert, and with all of the dining establishments around, you could easily spend the whole day shopping, eating and drinking.
For something more affordable, head over to the Cabazon Outlets, just 20 minutes from Palm Springs. Located right by the interstate for easy access, you will find an outdoor shopping mall with a range of outlet stores. Some of the big names that have stores here are Saks Fifth Avenue, Dior and Coach. There are only a few places to eat here, such as Starbucks of Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, but there are many great restaurants not too far away.
Another great shopping destination where you could easily spend the whole day is The River in Rancho Mirage, in the heart of Palm Springs. This large complex features a variety of lifestyle and fashion stores, as well as an entertainment complex with a great theater. There is an outside patio overlooking a gorgeous waterfront with waterfalls and beautiful landscaping, and is a lovely place to relax in the sun after some serious shopping. There are also spas, a winery and an outdoor amphitheater, giving you plenty of options for when you take a break from shopping.
Palm Desert is also home to a variety of alternative shopping experiences, if you want a change from shopping malls and standard stores. Every weekend, the College of the Desert campus turns into an outdoor street fair, with over 300 different vendors. Both visitors and tourists flock here every Saturday and Sunday for some great shopping, live entertainment, and delicious gourmet street food. There is also a farmers market selling fresh produce at great prices.
For an evening farmer’s market, visit the parking lot at the Chamber of Commerce, where on the first Wednesday of each month you will find more than 30 booths selling local produce. Apart from fresh fruit and vegetables, you will also be able to buy organic wine and honey, as well as different health and beauty products. The market stays open until 8pm, and has only just been launched due to popular demand, so you will find a swarm of lively activity. Vendors are only allowed to sell what they themselves have grown, so you can rest assured that everything you buy is grown locally by people who truly care about their produce.
With so many different shopping types of shopping experiences on offer, Palm Desert surely has something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you love to shop for designer shoes and handbags, or fresh organic tomatoes at discount prices, OROGOLD knows you will always have some great options to choose from.
