The capital of Arizona, Phoenix is a sprawling city, receiving so much sunshine each year that it is also known as the Valley of the Sun. There is plenty to keep you busy in and around the city, so take a look at OROGOLD’s list of some of our favorite things to do in Phoenix.
Visit the Desert Botanical Garden
Spaced out over 140 acres, the Desert Botanical Garden showcases the finest collection of arid plants in the world, from deserts all across the globe. Its unique outdoor setting makes this a fun activity for the whole family, and there are always seasonal exhibits and special events to enjoy, as well as organized tours if you want to make sure that you don’t miss out on anything.
Hit the Shops
Phoenix takes shopping extremely seriously, and has some of the best shopping areas in the Southwest. There are some great outdoor shopping centers, providing you with a park-like setting while you shop. Kierland Commons is on the Phoenix and Scottsdale border, and is home to some popular shops, while Biltmore Fashion Park is also a must-visit for any shopaholics. You will find fantastic restaurants at each of these locations, making it quite easy to spend the whole day exploring Phoenix’s shops.
Pueblo Grande Ruin Museum
The Pueblo Grande Ruin Museum is an archeological site that was left by the Hohokam culture 1500 years ago. The museum consists of a mixture of authentic ruins and replica buildings, from an excavated ball court to replicas of the Hohokam’s actual houses, making it feel as though you have stepped back in time while giving you a sense of tranquillity after the buzz of the city.
With Phoenix being surrounded by so much natural beauty, it would be a shame to not take advantage of this. One of OROGOLD’s favorite trails is the Cholla Trail on Camelback Mountain, the most iconic mountain on the horizon. South Mountain Park and Preserve is one of the biggest municipal parks in the country, and with over fifty miles of trails, is popular with hikers, walkers, bikers and horse riders.
The spas in Phoenix make full use of the indigenous plants and ingredients all around them, while being inspired by the traditions from the tribal lands. The Agave Spa uses agave in all of their treatments, while the Aji Spa makes use of red clay from the Gila River, as well as local cholla cactus buds. Each of these ingredients brings so many benefits to your skin, and this is something that OROGOLD would highly recommend you set aside some time for.
Phoenix has something for everybody, no matter what your interests may be. Whether you want to spend the day hitting the shops before pampering yourself at a spa, or exploring the natural beauty of this spectacular city, you can be sure that you will find plenty of ways to do all of this in Phoenix.
